After practically reinventing the entire scene, Susanne also advocated for the disenfranchised, opened a store to celebrate young designers (John Galliano, Vivienne Westwood), and raised millions for HIV/AIDS before anyone else cared.

In 1989 Susanne Bartsch presented The Love Ball at Roseland Ballroom in NYC which united high fashion celebrities and voguers from Paris Dupree's drag houses in Harlem for a gala benefit that raised over 2 million dollars to fight AIDS. Nelson arrived before the festivities began and gives us a glimpse of the many fabulous personalities in attendance that night.
